The Man Behind The Lens Of Morning Bondi

Welcoming the first week of Summer with Amaury Tréguer, a French Photographer from Paris who made Bondi Beach his home in 2010 and is the man behind the lens of the successful Morning Bondi.
Amaury never misses a morning down the beach - everyday of the year he wakes up at 5:30am to exercise with his friends and capture the essence of Bondi with his camera. His photographs focus on Bondi’s epic sunrises, local character, surfers, sunsets and any other interesting events and activities that cross his path.

Amaury lives and breaths everything Bondi and everything Mountain Active stands for, this is why we were so thrilled to have collaborated with him for the first week of Australia summer.

Below are a few shots of Amaury wearing our carbon fibre EARTHLIGHT in Urban Graphite and a Q&A:
Where are you originally from? I’m originally from Paris but I have been living in Sydney for the past 8 years.
When did you start Morning Bondi? I’ve started Morning Bondi almost 6 years ago.
How did you get into photography? I actually got into photography quite organically. When I started Morning Bondi, I was just taking photos with my phone. After a few months I got frustrated with the quality of the photos so decided to move on to a compact camera and then same scenario again. A few months of frustration and decided to bring my SLR down the beach - definitely the right thing to do to capture Bondi’s beauty.
Is it true you wake up every morning at 5:30am and shoot content to feature on your social media platforms? It is very true indeed but Morning Bondi is first and foremost a social thing - it’s not just about the photography. Every morning, I catch-up with friends to exercise, have fun and I take photos along the way. I’m rarely by myself, I always have my best mates behind the camera with me or in front when I don’t have enough photos for the day.
What’s on the top of your bucket list? Top of my bucket list is to travel all around Australia and especially in Western Australia that I have never done before.

How do you blow off steam or unwind? I would say surfing. Every weekend, I try to surf both days, a great way to unwind and have fun at the same time.
If you could live in another city or country, what would it be? To be honest, I’m not sure there is anything like Australia. We are so lucky to live in this part of the world. If I had to choose another country, I would probably choose France, my home country, to be with my family and friends but no plans to go back there anytime soon.
What’s next for Morning Bondi? Hmm that’s a great question... I have just realised one of my dreams last week, being represented by a photo gallery. You can read more about it here (https://www.instagram.com/p/BcHdem7AJvC/) What’s next? I guess a book would be another of my dreams.
